Alpha sets have been an evergreen popular design item for a long time, and with good reason, they are just so versatile and fun.
Making these is pretty easy. You just need a software program that allows you to add pattern and color to a font. In my example above I used photoshop's layer styles to add pattern and an outer stroke. I duplicated the letter, turned the fill opacity right down to 0, added an inner stroke, and reduced the size of that letter a little adjusting it for an imperfect placement.
I like the idea of using fonts that have a fun quirky style but these do work best with a chunkier font.
